Invisalign Before and After: Real Treatment Examples from Yorkshire Orthodontics

The before-and-after cases below are all real patients treated here at Yorkshire Orthodontics, and they show the range of issues clear aligners can help correct - from gaps and crowding to bite problems that affect how your teeth work as well as how they look.

This page focuses specifically on Clear Aligners. If you'd like to see results from our full range of treatments, take a look at our before and afters gallery.

Every mouth is different, so every Invisalign plan is different too. Below, we've set out five treatment examples, each with the reasons treatment was needed and how long the plan took, so you can get a realistic idea of what's involved before you book a consultation with our specialist Orthodontists in Leeds or Otley.

What Can Invisalign Actually Treat?

Invisalign is a system of clear, removable aligners that gradually move teeth into a better position. It's often associated with mild crowding, but in the hands of a qualified orthodontist it can address a wider range of issues, including:

Crowded or crooked teeth Where there isn't enough space for teeth to sit straight.
Gaps between teeth Including spacing caused by a missing or extracted tooth.
Overjet Where the upper front teeth sit further forward than the lower teeth.
Deep bite Where the upper front teeth overlap the lower teeth too much.
Underbite Where the lower jaw and teeth sit slightly ahead of the upper jaw.
Uneven back-tooth contact Where the upper and lower teeth don't meet quite as they should.

Not every case is suitable for Invisalign, and some need a combination of approaches. That's why an assessment with a specialist orthodontist matters more than a quick look online – it's the only way to know what your teeth actually need.

Invisalign Before and After: Five Real Treatment Examples

These five real Yorkshire Orthodontics cases demonstrate some of the different alignment and bite problems that can be treated using Invisalign.

Overjet

This patient had crowding of the upper front teeth, which caused them to overlap. The upper teeth sat further forward than ideal, with a deep bite meaning the upper front teeth completely covered the lower front teeth on biting together. The back teeth also showed a mild imbalance, with the lower teeth positioned slightly behind the upper teeth.

Treatment length: 19 months

Overjet is a common reason for patients asking us about Invisalign. If you'd like a more detailed look at how clear aligners correct these bite issues, our specialist orthodontists have written a longer clinical guide: Can Invisalign correct an overbite?

Underbite

A mild underbite, where the lower jaw sits slightly ahead of the upper jaw, together with a small chin asymmetry to the left. The front teeth met almost edge-to-edge. While the bite was well balanced on the left side, the lower teeth sat slightly further forward on the right.

Treatment length: 14 months

Gap Teeth

Slightly protruding upper front teeth alongside a deep bite, where the upper front teeth completely overlapped the lower front teeth. The back teeth fitted together well, but this patient had recently had a lower front tooth extracted, which created spacing and alignment issues that treatment addressed.

Treatment length: 10 months

Crooked Teeth

Moderate crowding of the lower front teeth made them appear crooked. The upper side front teeth were smaller than usual, and the lower teeth were slightly off-centre.

Treatment length: 8 months

Crowded Teeth

Mild crowding of the upper teeth and moderate crowding of the lower teeth had caused some teeth to become crooked. This patient had previously had two upper teeth removed, which affected how the back teeth met together.

Treatment length: 14 months

Crowding is one of the most common reasons patients come to see us. For more on what causes it and the full range of treatment options beyond Invisalign, see our guide to crowded teeth causes and treatment options.

Why Patients Choose Invisalign

Patients considering teeth straightening often ask how Invisalign compares to fixed braces. In short: Invisalign suits patients who want a discreet, removable option and are committed to wearing their aligners as instructed, while fixed braces can still be the better fit for some more complex bite corrections.

We've covered the full comparison, including cost and lifestyle factors, in Invisalign vs. braces: which is right for you?

As the case examples above show, Invisalign can be used for a genuinely wide range of issues under specialist planning – not just minor crowding. It isn't automatically the right choice for every case, though. Some patients need a different type of aligner, a fixed brace, or a combination of treatments. An assessment with one of our specialist orthodontists is the only reliable way to find out what's right for your teeth.

Invisalign Before and After: Frequently Asked Questions

Can Invisalign fix an overjet?

Invisalign can be used to treat overjet, where the upper front teeth sit further forward than the lower teeth, as part of a wider treatment plan. Suitability depends on the severity of the overjet and the rest of the bite, which is why an orthodontic assessment is needed before starting treatment.

For more detail, see our guide on Invisalign and overbite/overjet correction.

Can Invisalign correct an underbite?

Mild to moderate underbites can sometimes be treated with Invisalign, depending on the cause and severity. More significant underbites may need additional treatment alongside aligners. A personalised assessment will confirm what's suitable for your case.

Can Invisalign close gaps between teeth?

Yes, Invisalign is commonly used to close gaps between teeth, including spacing caused by a missing or extracted tooth, as shown in the Gap Teeth example above.

Is Invisalign suitable for crowded or crooked teeth?

Invisalign can treat both mild and moderate crowding, as well as teeth that appear crooked or off-centre. The right treatment length depends on how much movement is needed, which your specialist orthodontist will assess at your consultation.

Read more about the causes and treatment options for crowded teeth.

How long does Invisalign treatment take?

Treatment length varies by case. The examples on this page range from 8 to 19 months, depending on the complexity of the issue being treated. Your specialist orthodontist can give you a personalised treatment plan after an assessment.

How much does Invisalign cost?

Cost depends on the complexity of your case and how many aligners are needed. Visit our Invisalign treatment page or costs page for current pricing and payment plan options, or book a consultation for a personalised quote.

Do I need a consultation before starting Invisalign?

Yes. Every case on this page was planned following a full assessment with one of our specialist orthodontists. This is the only way to confirm whether Invisalign is suitable for your teeth and bite, and to set realistic expectations for treatment length.
