Clear aligners for teens & kids
Many of our young patients are pleased to learn that they qualify for treatment with clear aligners. Aligners make orthodontic treatment more comfortable, more discreet and much more convenient!
How do clear aligners work?
Clear aligners are thin plastic trays that slot over your teeth and look a bit like mouthguards. Your child will be given a series of aligners that are each shaped slightly differently to guide their smile into alignment little by little over the course of treatment.
To create their custom aligners, we will use our cutting-edge 3D scanner to make a digital model of their smile. This model doesn’t require any bit moulds to be made and allows your child’s Specialist Orthodontist to plan their treatment from start to finish.
Aligners are removable, so your child doesn’t need to adjust their diet or oral hygiene habits during treatment. They just need to wear their aligners for 20-22 hours daily for the best results.
Clear aligners for teens
We offer two types of clear aligners for teens: Invisalign® clear aligners and Spark aligners. Invisalign® treatment for teens is very similar to treatment for adults, except the aligners come with blue wear indicators to help your teen remember to wear them for over 20 hours a day.
Because the aligners are removable, they won’t get in the way of contact sports or musical instrument practice. Your Specialist Orthodontist will help you decide which type of aligners are best for your teen’s smile.
Invisalign® First for small smiles
Invisalign® First is a clear aligner treatment designed just for children ages 6-10. The aligners are especially made to guide the growth of your child’s jaws and make room for their incoming adult teeth.
Because Invisalign® First aligners are smooth and removable, they make a very gentle introduction to orthodontic treatment. Early treatment with Invisalign® First may shorten or prevent treatment in your child’s teenage years.
Benefits of clear aligners for teens & kids
Our young patients enjoy clear aligners because they are:
- Discreet: Clear aligners are transparent and very difficult to see when worn, so your child can take as many selfies as they want!
- Smooth: The smooth plastic is comfortable to wear and won’t hurt the inside of your child’s mouth.
- Convenient: Your child can take their aligners out for social events, swimming and meals – and can keep them in during sports and band practice!
- Accurate: Clear aligners are made for your child’s smile – and their smile alone. That means we get precise and efficient results from their treatment.
